The Ardennes-based company, specialising in the manufacture of 3D XXL letters, has just delivered its latest production at 1,800 metres altitude, to the commune of FONT ROMEU in the Pyrenees.
The project
Structure commissioned by the Font-Romeu Tourist Office, at the initiative of its Director, Flavien Desclaux, in order to promote the FONT-ROMEU brand. The Aupied2lalettre team was asked to meet the following requirements:
- Manufacture letters 2 metres high,
- Allow easy movement of the structure,
- Identify the commune as French,
- Associate the structure with the Olympic Games,
- Integrate lighting.
To meet these various criteria, Aupied2lalettre proposed manufacturing the base in blue, white and red, and coating the letters with a textured gold epoxy paint. The whole ensemble, made up of two structures weighing nearly two tonnes each, meets the mobility requirement. A telescopic handler allows the commune to move the structure using its own means.
Nearly 200 hours of work
Following a period of study and 3D simulation — to allow the decision-making team to make the best choice — it is with real expertise and great care that the sheets are assembled to construct each of the 10 characters that make up #FontRomeu.

While the cutting of the sheets is carried out on a laser cutting machine, the assembly, welding, grinding and painting operations are all performed by hand.
