DDM-MICHEL VIALA — BIGFLO & OLI AT THE ZÉNITH DE TOULOUSE

What a sight — a Zénith filled from floor to ceiling! All the more so when the purpose is to raise funds for the Secours Populaire. Bigflo & Oli were concluding a long series of 240 concert dates across France and beyond with this (very successful) and decidedly special evening, featuring an irresistible line-up. For LauCarré (Bigflo & Oli’s young protégés, performing for only the third time before such a large audience), the test was passed with flying colours, and the Berywam (appearing at Le Bikini on 9 April) confirmed their ease on stage and their vocal talent. The voice of Nougaro, the quintessential tutelary figure, struck up “Toulouse” — and then, how to put it… everything exploded! First Bigflo, then Oli, demonstrated — as if any further proof were needed — the duo’s mastery of the stage, along with that of the musicians accompanying them on “La Vie normale”, “Bienvenue chez moi”, “Papa” with… papa, a beautiful version of “Caroline” with “legend” MC Solaar… All accompanied by a healthy dose of humour targeting brioche rolls, Bordeaux locals, their father Fabian (appearing on 23 February at the Halle aux Grains) “who now walks on stage like a Cuban dictator!”, and “the dads who’d rather be somewhere else…”

They took their shirts off

The tight-knit crew played to an adoring and very responsive crowd, with further guests filing on stage — from Kikesa to Alejandro, via 47Ter, Toulousain Jean-Luc Reichman “who shares the same values”, and Mouss and Hakim, who of course took their shirts off… The cheque for the Secours Populaire amounted to €500,000 — hats off to the artists, hats off to the audience! A great idea — La Nuit Solidaire should happen again…
