There are towns that have a personality. Marcq-en-Barœul is one of them. Residential, dynamic, attached to its identity. A commune in the North of France like no other. When it entrusts its visual signature to Au Pied de la Lettre, it is this personality that must be translated into steel, light and grand scale.
The result? A luminous XXL monumental structure, assembled in our Fleigneux workshops, ready to become the town’s new visual landmark.
A composition in two registers, a single identity
The Marcq-en-Barœul giant structure is not simply letters placed on a base. It is made up of two distinct elements, conceived together from the very start.
On one side, the sculptural logo — an organic form in free curves, evoking movement, lightness and elegance. On the other, the MARCQ EN BARŒUL lettering in massive white typography, accompanied by the signature “UN ART DE VIVRE” engraved on the navy blue base.
Two registers. Two visual languages. One coherent, immediately identifiable whole.
In the workshops: when complexity becomes signature
The workshop photos tell the story. The Marcq-en-Barœul sculptural logo is not a simple form. It is made up of dozens of rolled, bent aluminium bands, assembled point by point on a welding table. Each curve must simultaneously meet constraints of shape and structural strength.
A technician kneeling, tool in hand, adjusting the final welds. Behind him, the structure takes shape. The final form begins to emerge — that airy movement that contrasts with the massiveness of the letters.
For Marcq-en-Barœul, the manufacturing chain mobilised the full range of Au Pied de la Lettre’s expertise:
- Rolling and bending of aluminium bands for perfectly regular curves
- Bespoke assembly with no pre-existing template — every form is unique
- Continuous welds invisible after finishing
- XXL lettering in white typography, massive and legible from a distance
- White lacquered epoxy paint across the entire structure
- Navy blue diamond-plate aluminium base, with “UN ART DE VIVRE” inscription in white letters
- Integrated RGB LED lighting, offering an infinite chromatic range — shown here in purple/pink during workshop testing
Nothing is subcontracted. From the first strip of metal to the luminous structure delivered on site, everything is manufactured in-house, in Fleigneux in the Ardennes.
Light as a second material
What strikes you in the final photo is the light. The sculptural logo illuminates from within. Purple floods the curves, reveals the volumes, transforms a metal structure into a luminous work.
This is not a projector placed beside it. It is an RGB LED system integrated from the very first design stage, concealed within the structure, controlled to offer an infinite range of colours and atmospheres. By day, the structure is white, sculptural, elegant. By night, it radiates.
That is what a well-designed XXL communication piece looks like: a structure that never truly switches off.
Moveable, instagrammable, durable
The Marcq-en-Barœul structure was designed to adapt. Mounted on a self-supporting base without heavy anchoring, it can be repositioned according to the town’s needs — public square, event, inauguration, Christmas market.
Self-supporting. Moveable. Luminous. Instagrammable.
Every visitor who passes in front of it becomes, effortlessly, an ambassador for the town. Every photo shared is a free communication action for Marcq-en-Barœul. That is the power of a well-designed giant logo: it works for the town, 24 hours a day.
